About
My name is Emmanuel Onyango, widely known as Octa - a mountain bike guide and university student from Uganda. My climbing journey began shortly after the COVID-19 lockdowns, during a cycling trip to Jinja, the source of the river Nile. There, I met members of the Mountain Club of Uganda (MCU), who told me about rock climbing. They later invited me to join them at the MCU quarry in Kampala - and that was the start of a deep and lasting obsession. My main disciplines are lead climbing and bouldering. But with no climbing gyms in Uganda, my entire experience has been shaped by outdoor climbing - and the incredibly warm and supportive MCU community that made it all possible.
